Privacy Policy

Also see our Terms of Service.

This Privacy Policy explains how IlmStudio.AI ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use our Service. We are committed to respecting your privacy and protecting your personal data. By using IlmStudio.AI, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the Site. We aim to follow worldwide data privacy regulations (such as GDPR and CCPA) and do not collect more personal data than is necessary to provide and improve our Service.

Information We Collect

We collect only the information that is necessary to operate our Service, which generally falls into a few categories:

  • Information You Provide to Us: When you create an account, make a donation, or contact us, you may provide personal information. This can include your name, email address, username, and password. If you donate or make transactions, you might provide payment details (such as credit card information or payment service info), though these are usually handled by third-party payment processors (we receive confirmation of payment and possibly basic payer info, but not your full financial details). Any communications you send to us (for example, emails or support requests) may also be collected.
  • Information We Collect Automatically: When you visit or use IlmStudio.AI, our systems and analytics providers may automatically collect certain data about your visit. This includes technical information like your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, and device identifiers. We also collect usage data such as the pages or content you view, the features you use (e.g. voting in a poll), the time and date of your visits, and the referring URL (which page or site led you to ours). We use cookies and similar technologies (explained below) to collect some of this information and to remember your preferences.
  • Poll and Interaction Data: If you participate in polls or voting on the Site, we will record your vote or response. Poll responses are generally not publicly tied to your identity (we may display aggregate results like percentages, but not which user voted for what). However, to maintain integrity, we may link your vote to your user account internally to prevent multiple votes and ensure each user votes only once per poll.
  • Minimal Account Profile Data: Your account may have a profile where you can (optionally) add information like a profile picture or bio. Providing such information is completely optional. Any profile information you add will be stored by us and may be visible to other users if we introduce social features in the future. (Currently, IlmStudio primarily focuses on content consumption and voting, so profile info visibility is limited.)

We do not intentionally collect any sensitive personal information such as racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs (aside from the fact that our content is Islamic in nature, we do not ask for your personal beliefs), health information, or genetic data, etc. Please refrain from providing such sensitive data to us. If you believe we have inadvertently collected sensitive personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes, all in accordance with applicable legal bases (such as fulfilling our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running a safe and effective service, your consent where applicable, and compliance with legal obligations):

  • To Provide and Maintain the Service: We use your information to allow you to use the Site's features. For example, your account information is used to log you in and show you relevant content, and your poll votes are used to tally results. If you make a donation, we use your information to process that transaction and (if applicable) to acknowledge or provide a receipt for your donation.
  • To Communicate with You: We may use your contact information (email address) to send important administrative messages, such as account verification, password reset emails, updates to these Terms or the Privacy Policy, or customer service responses. If you opt-in to any newsletter or updates about new content, we will use your email to deliver those. You can opt out of non-essential communications at any time.
  • To Ensure Site Integrity and Security: Information like IP addresses, log data, and voting records may be used to monitor for fraudulent or malicious activity. This helps us detect and prevent abuse of our polls (such as cheating by creating multiple accounts or automated voting) and to protect our platform from attacks. We may use usage data to enforce our Terms of Service (for example, investigating potential violations or banning users who violate rules).
  • To Improve and Personalize the Service: We use analytics data and usage information to understand how users engage with IlmStudio.AI. This helps us improve our content and features. For example, knowing which content is most viewed or which poll had the most participation can guide our future content creation. We may also use cookies to remember your preferences and to personalize your experience. Any personalization will be within the bounds of our family-friendly focus.
  • To Comply with Legal Requirements: We may process and retain your information as needed to comply with laws, regulations, and legal requests (for example, maintaining transaction records for financial regulations or responding to lawful requests by public authorities).
  • With Your Consent (if applicable): In certain cases, we may ask for your consent to use your information for a specific purpose, which will be explained to you. If we do so, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time (for example, you can opt out of a newsletter you consented to receive).

We will not use your personal information for any purpose that is incompatible with the purposes described above without your consent or unless required by law.

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies

IlmStudio.AI uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device when you visit a website. We use cookies for various purposes, such as keeping you logged in (session cookies), remembering your preferences, and gathering usage data as mentioned. For example, if you adjust certain settings on the Site, a cookie might remember those for your next visit.

You have control over cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser settings to decline cookies or alert you when a cookie is being placed. Please note that if you disable cookies, some features of the Site (such as staying logged in or participating in polls) may not function properly.

Analytics

We use third-party analytics tools (such as Google Analytics or similar services) to collect and analyze usage information. These analytics providers use cookies and scripts to collect information such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, time spent on pages, and other data described in "Information We Collect Automatically." We use this information to understand user behavior on our Site and to improve our content and user experience. The analytics providers may process and store this information, and typically provide us with aggregated reports (which do not identify individual users).

We do not use tracking cookies for third-party advertising at this time (and thus we do not engage in behaviorally targeted advertising). If in the future we decide to partner with advertisers or use ad cookies, we will update our Terms and Privacy Policy and obtain any necessary consents as required by law.

How We Share Your Information

IlmStudio values your privacy. We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes. We only share your information in limited circumstances, as described below:

Service Providers

We may share information with trusted third-party service providers who perform functions on our behalf to operate and improve the Service. For example, this includes payment processors (to handle donations securely), web hosting providers, analytics companies, email service providers (to send communications), and security service providers. These parties only receive the information necessary to provide their specific services to us. They are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify, in compliance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Partners and Content Contributors

In some cases, we might collaborate with partner organizations or content creators to produce content on IlmStudio.AI. If this involves any sharing of personal data (for example, if you participate in a special event or contest with a partner), we will inform you at the time and, if necessary, obtain your consent. Generally, normal usage of the site (browsing, voting) does not involve sharing personal data with content partners; they would only see aggregated poll results or content performance metrics.

Legal Compliance and Protection

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with legal obligations. For instance, in response to a subpoena, court order, or government request, we might provide data if we are legally compelled. We may also share information if we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected illegal activities, fraud, or situations involving potential threats to the safety or legal rights of any person (including the rights and safety of IlmStudio, our users, or the public). This can include sharing information with law enforcement or other authorities.

Business Transfers

If IlmStudio is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing due diligence, reorganization, bankruptcy, receivership, sale of assets, or transition of service to another provider, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We would ensure that any successor entity continues to protect your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy (or inform you if the policy changes and obtain any necessary consent).

With Your Consent

Apart from the cases above, if we ever need to share your personal information for any other purpose, we will describe and request your consent. For example, if we wanted to feature a user testimonial or profile publicly, we would ask for your permission before doing so.

Aggregated or De-Identified Data

We may also share information that has been aggregated or anonymized, so it no longer identifies a specific individual. For example, we might publish general usage statistics (e.g., "X% of our users voted for a certain content theme") or share aggregated insights with a research partner or sponsor. Such information would not include any personal data.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the security of your personal information. This includes using technical, administrative, and physical safeguards. For example, our website employs HTTPS encryption (TLS) to secure data transmission between your browser and our servers. Passwords are stored using secure hashing techniques, and sensitive interactions (like donations) are handled through reputable, secure third-party providers. We also restrict access to personal data to authorized personnel who need it to operate our Service.

Despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data. You can help protect your account by using a strong, unique password and keeping it confidential. If you suspect any unauthorized access to your account or any security breaches, please notify us immediately so we can assist.

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will act promptly to contain and assess the issue. If required by law, we will notify affected users and appropriate authorities of certain breaches.

Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

  • Account information is retained while your account remains active.
  • If you delete your account, personal data will be deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period unless retention is required for legal obligations, dispute resolution, or enforcement of agreements.
  • Transaction and donation records may be retained for financial reporting, tax compliance, and fraud prevention.
  • Log and analytics data may be retained for a limited period to improve system performance and security.

Your Rights and Choices

You have certain rights regarding your personal information, and we offer you choices to control how it is used:

Access and Correction

You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you. You can typically review and update certain information (like your email or password) by logging into your account settings. If you need a complete record or wish to correct information that you cannot edit yourself, you can contact us with a request. We will provide you with a copy of your data or make corrections as required by applicable law (subject to identity verification for security).

Deletion of Data and Account

You can request that we delete your personal information. You may do this by deleting your account via the profile/settings page (if such functionality is available) or by contacting us to request deletion. Upon such request, we will delete or anonymize your personal data, except for information we are required or permitted to retain by law (for example, records of donations for financial reporting, or logs needed for security and legal compliance). Please note that after deletion, certain residual data (backups, log entries) might remain in our archives but will be disassociated from personal identifiers as much as possible.

Withdrawal of Consent

If we process any of your personal data based on your consent (for example, if you opted into a newsletter or certain cookies), you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can unsubscribe from email updates by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any such email or by adjusting your account preferences. To withdraw consent for cookies, you can adjust your browser settings to reject non-essential cookies (see "Cookies and Analytics" above).

Opt-Out of Communications

We may send you occasional emails about new content, features, or updates if you have subscribed. If you prefer not to receive these, you can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe mechanism provided in the emails or contacting us. Please note that we may still need to send you important administrative or account-related messages even if you opt out of marketing communications.

Data Portability

In certain jurisdictions (such as the EU under GDPR), you have the right to request a copy of the personal data you provided to us in a machine-readable format, and to have that information transmitted to another service provider where technically feasible. If you require this, please contact us and we will assist in accordance with applicable law.

Object or Restrict Processing

You may have the right to object to or request that we restrict certain processing of your data. For example, if you feel our use of your data for our legitimate interests is not justified, or you want to opt out of any direct marketing, let us know. In situations where we rely on legitimate interests, we will consider your objection and determine whether the law requires us to cease the processing or whether we have overriding legitimate grounds to continue.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act), including the right to know what personal information is collected, used, shared, or sold, the right to request deletion of your personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights. As stated, we do not sell personal information. California users who wish to exercise their rights can contact us, and we will process requests in accordance with California law.

To exercise any of your rights or if you have questions about your rights, you can contact us at the email provided in the "Contact Us" section below. We may need to verify your identity (for example, by confirming control of your email address or requesting additional info) before fulfilling certain requests. We will respond to your request within the timeframe required by law (e.g., within 30 days for GDPR requests, which can be extended once, or 45 days for CCPA requests, extendable by another 45 days if necessary, with notice to you).

Children's Privacy

IlmStudio.AI is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you are under 13, please do not register for an account or send us any personal information (including your name, address, telephone number, or email address). If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child under 13 without proper consent, we will take steps to delete that information as soon as possible.

For minors above 13 but under the age of majority (for example, teenagers between 13 and 17), our policy is that they should use the Site only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian, especially when it comes to creating an account or making a donation. We encourage families to discuss internet safety and to supervise children's online activities.

If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child under 13 has provided personal information to IlmStudio.AI without your consent, please contact us. We will promptly investigate and remove the information and terminate the child's account if one exists.

International Data Transfers

IlmStudio.AI is accessible to users around the world. Our servers and service providers may be located in various countries. This means that your personal information may be transferred to, stored, or processed in a country different from your home country. For example, if you are located outside of the country where our servers are hosted, your data will travel across international borders.

Data Protection

We will take appropriate measures to ensure that such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws. If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, and your personal data is transferred to a country that the EU (or UK) deems not to have adequate data protection, we will use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses (SCCs) or obtain your consent to legitimize the data transfer. By using our Site or submitting your information to us, you understand that your data may be transferred to countries outside of your country of residence, which may have data protection rules different from those of your country.

However, our practices regarding your personal information will at all times continue to be governed by this Privacy Policy and the requirements of any applicable laws. We will also comply with any local requirements regarding data localization or residency if applicable (though, as a general matter, we strive to minimize data retention and keep data only as needed, regardless of location).

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update or modify this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date (typically found at the top of the Privacy Policy page or section). If changes are significant, we may provide a more prominent notice or seek your consent as required by law (for example, by email notice to registered users or a pop-up notice on the Site).

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. Your continued use of IlmStudio.AI after any changes to this Privacy Policy means you accept the updated policy, to the extent permitted by law.

If you contact us with a privacy-related request, please provide sufficient detail so that we can understand and respond to your request.
